stress and anxiety
beloved - let us not focus so much on our circumstances, but rather on the promises of God! AND what it is He is trying to teach us in troublesome circumstances!

I suffer from anxiety on a daily basis. It's from having bipolar disorder. I find that reading the Bible calms me down. I've gathered a list of scriptures that help soothe me when I'm anxious.

sorry about your anxiety! you know, one of the things i teach others more than anything else (daily it seems) is 'right thinking'...GUARDING our thoughts!! the enemy plants thoughts in our mind, and we are to catch them and dump them (NOT ponder them!)
applicable passage include - as a woman thinks within heris heart, so SHE IS! (proverbs 4 i think) and whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things. phil 4:8
i have found when under attack (assaulted by thoughts of the enemy) to go to the phil 4:8 thoughts and it is helpful to have a LIST, ready to go (after the battle has begun is no time to think up a list); your 'list' can include memories, passages of scripture (which you already have) and even photos!!

ps - anxiety being a result (symptom) of thinking all the wrong thoughts!!

S.T. you have given me some extra passages to put on my list. I love the Phil 4:8 verse. I have it highlighted in my Bible. Most of my Bible is highlighted I find so many verses that speak to me.
I've found a book titled the Bipolar Disorder Diet book and it lays out a way to alleviate the ups and downs of BP with supplements and eating the right foods and listening to your individual circadian rhythms. I'm going to give it a try. It has studies in it that show that certain foods make some people with BP more sensitive and affects their moods. Since I'm medication resistant, I have to go with supplements and now food changes.

I am on day 3 of the Bipolar Disorder Diet. It's easier than I thought to stick to it. What's hard is finding things for my husband to eat. He's not really following it. So, most nights we're making 2 dinners. During the day, he's at work, so we're on our own anyway. Weekends are a little harder. Like today and tomorrow.

hmmm....well - 2 dinners is a pretty small price to pay...better than expensive med for the rest of your life (albeit shortened), lengthy hosp visits or trips to a cemetery....

I just saw my doctor this morning and she approved the Bipolar disorder diet. So, we're good to go.

well....not a big fan of physicians; bi-polar - it is not a 'biological condition' that can be measured...right? just someones opinion based on their observation?

Bipolar from what I understand is a chemical imbalance. It can be treated with medication. But it can also be treated with a well balanced diet and the right supplements. Which my primary doctor likes. not my psychiatrist. My primary doctor is big on eating a healthy meal and eating the right supplements. my psychiatrist is big on medication. So, I'm working on the bipolar disorder diet right now.

ok good! the 1st physician sounds like one of the rare one; but truly - we are what we eat! and IF there is a chemical imbalance it is attributable to something we have ingested! God does not create us with a chemical imbalance!
imbalences can also be attributable to embracing thoughts planted by the enemy (fear, anger, impatience....); the 2nd one you mentioned....no nice way to say it...just keep your distance!
may our loving heavenly Father give you wisdom to manage your life! (and thoughts)

Thank you. You are so sweet to look them up and give me the verse and scripture. I don't know them by heart yet. But I will one day. I love how my preacher can rattle off the verse and then the chapter and verse.. without looking. He's so good at it.
