What is Faith Like?
Faith means abandoning all trust in our own resources, abilities and reasoning -- the things we see. It means relying instead on things we cannot see -- God's promises, provision, and His concern for us. An inner attitude alone does not define faith, though. For faith to be present, action is required. Faith proves itself by its obedience to the Lord.
The writer of Hebrews expressed faith in two directions: faith toward future things (what we hope for) and faith toward invisible things (what we do not see). When we are certain God is in control of these areas (and we live like He is in control), that's faith.
The two sides of faith -- assurance and expectation -- can be seen in the lives of those listed in Hebrews. They had strong convictions about unseen present realities. They also had a strong assurance that God's promises would be fulfilled -- even in the face of evidence that seemed to suggest otherwise.
Ultimately, the way we see God will determine the shape of our faith. If we see a big, faithful, all-powerful God, then our faith will rise to those levels. If, on the other hand, we see a smaller God, a distant or less active God, than faith will plateau at those levels.
How great is your faith?

I think this is probably one of the hardest things for me. I know the Bible tells me to not lean on my own understanding, but it seems I often try to take care of everything myself, under my own power, and forget to consult the Creator on the matter. As he molds me, it gets better, but I still fail big time in this area.

Lora, at Bible study today we discussed faith. We are studying Ephesians right now and Paul's letter is so perfect for understanding faith and God's love for us. He loves us. He sacrificed His only son for us, we let Him into our heart, His love lets us love others.
Faith is believing in God's love, no matter what. We have to surrender to His love and care. He will guide us in life. He will show us our purpose in life. We have to be aware of Him always. Talking to Him always.

Yes, so true. Although it doesn't feel like it, things have improved. If I look back on my life, say ten years ago, there's a big difference. God's touch and guiding hand is often so gentle we often don't notice it. So, he is certainly guiding me in life. I just wish it would go faster sometimes, LOL!

It takes a special person with a special insight to see every time God touches our lives. It's good that you can look back and see where God guided you. I know in my life right now, God is guiding me to be a better person to help others and he's providing me with people who can help me do that on a broader basis.

That's so awesome! Learning to love others with the Love of Jesus and have the means to do so cool. I pray your endeavors are very fruitful.

Thank you, I feel that God has gifted we with words and the ability to write. I want to share that gift with others and help them find a way to heal.
