2 Peter 2:1-3
2 Peter 2:1-3King James Version (KJV)
2 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

1 There will always remain false teachers. They teach out of self gain and not gain of God. They preach their message and not God’s message for them. They lead others away from God because there message is not of God so it does not draw us close to God.
2 Reason is often something that lead us away from the truth because often times these false teachers will reason the scriptures. We need to stay strong in the scriptures and only listen to teachers who teach the truth of the word, there is a difference between it being a different doctrine and being heresy. The best doctrines are supported by scripture; heresies bend or even break scripture.
3 They often times are lead by the money or fame because giving another message then God’s means they are not lead by Him. They will suffer judgment for their false teachings and for those they had lead away from the Lord. This also the danger of being a teacher, we become responsible what they hear when we teach but if we teach God’s word this should never be a problem.
