2 Peter 2:4-7
2 Peter 2:4-7King James Version (KJV)
4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

7 and if He delivered righteous Lot, vexed with the filthy conduct of the wicked

4 God has spared them for judgment, those who reject Christ as Lord will also be spared until judgment but when judgment comes they are doomed to the lake of fire. The idea of being bound in darkness is scary enough but to only God as a judge who condemns us is scary.
5 Noah was 8 descendents from Adam, Peter is referring to this. We learn here something Genesis did not cover and that was that Noah preached. He very well might of preached about the coming flood, the need to turn to God by faith, how God will protect him because he had faith and devotion to God. Noah may have very well known about the idea of grace.
6 There may have been very cities as corrupt as the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. They did what ever they wanted and had no sense of morality. There are some people like this today but not even ten were unlike this in the city of Sodom. If we do not turn to God our fate is worst than the fate of the city of Sodom and Gomorrah.
7 He did not allow the righteous to perish with the just. He will not allow us to have the same fate as those who do not have righteousness, we gain our by receiving Jesus. Lot was disgusted by the actions of the city yet remained there. God may have destroyed the city at that time to bring Lot out of Sodom. We need to be brought out this world by Christ, out of our sins and be brought to something better, His grace.
